Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Fair. Very good condition. Clean, unmarked pages. Foxing to front endpapers through to page 15, and from rear endpapers and back to page 217. Minor discolouration and staining to edges. Minimal sunning to top edges of both boards, and at head and tail of spine. Minor rubbing on spine. Minimal shelf wear. Dust wrapper has moderate insect damage at front and rear folds, rubbing and small tear to front of wrapper, two small sections are missing at the head of the spine, larger section missing at the base of the spine of the wrapper. Doddy Hay was one of Britain's leading sky divers and test parachutists, who resigned from the Royal Air Force in 1958 to team with James Martin and help develop the Martin-Baker ejector seat. The three parts of The Man in the Hot Seat detail Hay's experience as a parachutist with the Royal Air Force, the story of James Martin and the ejection seat, and Hay's work with Martin-Baker as the human projectile for the development of the ejection seat, when he was in hospital almost as often as he was out of it.
