Original 139 page mimeographed script printed on yellow paper for the John Wayne starring film set in Africa capturing wild animals for zoos of the world. Bound in full brown leather with Hatari! stamped on the spine and cover. This was screenwriter Frank WaldmanÕs personal copy with his name stamped in gold in the lower right hand corner on the front cover. Additionally, bound in are 46 pages of individual biographies of the characters. Two of the sections are co-written with Leigh Brackett. Director Howard Hawks commissioned the Waldman Brothers to write the script and then brought on Leigh Brackett. Eventually, Hawks had Brackett rewrite the whole script. However, story elements and various scenes were invented by the Waldmans and are present here in this first version of the film. Fine condition.…

In a career of many fine films, John WayneÕs three greatest performances are considered those in The Searchers, She Wore a Yellow Ribbon, and Red River where Wayne plays the hard-edged cattle drive boss, Tom Dunson.
