Hardcover. Condition: Very good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very good. The format is approximately 5.75 inches by 8,5 inches. xi, [1], 228 pages. One page item of ephemera related to this book laid in. Jai Pausch became an impassioned advocate promoting pancreatic cancer research following the 2008 death of her husband, Randy Pausch, Ph.D, acclaimed Carnegie Mellon University professor and author of the international best seller, The Last Lecture. During Randy's twenty-three-month battle with cancer, Jai took on the responsibility as his cancer caregiver, learning specialized medical, palliative, and hospice care. Previously, Jai Pausch led the Carnegie Mellon School of Computer Science Web team as the Director of Electronic Publications. Today, Pausch researches do-it-yourself instructional videos for home repairs and remodeling. She became a member of the National Board of Directors of The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network Foundation. A remarkably frank, deeply moving, and inspiring memoir by Jai Pausch, whose husband, Randy, wrote the bestseller The Last Lecture while battling pancreatic cancer. "Jai is such a giver that she often forgets to take care of herself," Randy Pausch wrote about his wife. "Jai knows that she'll have to give herself permission to make herself a priority." In Dream New Dreams, Jai Pausch shares her own story for the first time: her emotional journey from wife and mother to full-time caregiver, shuttling between her three young children and Randy's bedside as he sought treatment far from home; and then to widow and single parent, fighting to preserve a sense of stability for her family, while coping with her own grief and the challenges of running a household without a partner. Jai paints a vivid, honest portrait of a vital, challenging relationship between two strong people who faced a grim prognosis and the self-sacrificing decisions it often required. As she faced life without the husband she called her "magic man," Jai learned to make herself a priority to create a new life of hope and happinessas she puts it, to "feel a spark of my own magic beginning to flicker." Dream New Dreams is a powerful story of grief, healing, and newfound independence. With advice artfully woven into an intimate, beautifully written narrative, Jai's story will inspire not only the legions of readers who made The Last Lecture a bestseller, but also those who are embarking on a journey of loss and renewal themselves. Paperback. Condition: New. This title combines both theory and practice to lead, stepwise, to a full understanding of radio drama form. Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. FIRST EDITION & FIRST PRINTING. Written by and Hand-Signed by: MARY KENNY - Hand-Signed Dedication to the title page states: 'For my dear neighbour Peter - with fond regards Mary. December 2003 London. ' - Gerrmany Calling - is a personal biography of Lord Haw-Haw, William Joyce. - Lord Haw-Haw: From the Introduction "A queer little Irish peasant who had gone to some pains to make the worst of himself." Rebecca West's impression of "Lord Haw-Haw" in the dock: The Meaning of Treason. - Most biographies are, almost by definition, about successful people. This story is about a man who was a failure, who made the wrong choices at almost every point in his life, and ended his days on the gallows - with the negative distinction of being the last man, ever, to be hanged for High Treason by the British Crown. CONDITION & DESCRIPTION: The original dustjacket is in a fine condition and now housed in a removable plastic sleeve. No price but not price-clipped. Black boards with silver gilt lettering to the spine. Also in a very good condition. Black endpages front and rear in a fine condition. 300 pages are beautifully clean throughout and tightly bound. - E N D - RAPID DISPATCH. - Thanks for looking and hope you want to buy. - Rapid dispatch [same day if possible, or as soon as. Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Good. FIRST EDITION & FIRST PRINTING. FIRST EDITION & FIRST PRINTING & Hand-Signed to paste-in on the page opposite the full title page. 'Mary E. Kennard' - Scarce autograph of the woman described as 'Harborough's forgotten novelist' (J. D. Bennett, in 'The Harborough Historian', 2001) - Mary Eliza Kennard (1850 TO 1936) was an English novelist and writer of non-fiction. Most of her work was published under the name of: Mrs Edward Kennard. - Kennard specialised in stories of the English Country House world of hunting, shooting and fishing, and in her heyday was dubbed: "the Diana of fiction", in honour of Diana, the Roman goddess of hunting. - The book contains 14 short stories. - Condition of the book: Green cloth with black and red illustration of a man on a horse, who is fox hunting. The image is faded in parts but still a very obvious illustration. On the spine, the title of the book is at the top in gold gilt, and although you can still read it, it has faded with time. In the middle of the spine, there is an outline of the riding crop and a bugle, and the author's name runs through this illustration. At the bottom of the spine is the publishers name. On the reverse of the book [rear panel], is a decorative symbol of the publishers initials. The cloth is frayed around the extremities, and mainly so to the corners and top and bottom of the spine. There is also a fair amount of soiling. There is also a small tape repair to the top front of the spine. - Overall, it's a fair condition for a book that is over 135 years old. There are decorative end pages front and rear, all present, although fairly browned. As stated above, the signature of 'Mary E. Kennard', is pasted on to the blank endpage opposite the full title page. It is on similar aged paper as the book is published on, so I presume it has been here for over a hundred and thirty years. The page block is tightly bound and there are no loose pages. The fourteen stories command 226 pages and there are numerous pages to the rear given to advertising. At the end of the 226 pages there is a list of F.V. White & Co's other publications and this is dated January, 1889. The list of other publications covers a further 16 pages. There isn't any soiling to the pages, there's more of a hue to the page edges, which is age related. Overall, a very good condition. - Our orders are shipped within 1 or 2 business days. Signed by Author(s).…
