Gilt top edge; toned deckle fore-edge; deckle bottom edge. Strong toning and foxing to endpapers; some mild foxing on several initial and terminal leaves. Interior pages remain fairly clean. A very good- copy and a handsome edition of the classic Latin picaresque novel written sometime between 150-180 A.D. in the standard English translation by William Adlington. Includes six b/w plates including frontispiece which retains a lightly toned tissue guard plus other b/w illustrations or "decorations" amongst text many of which are chapter headpieces.
