Hardcover. Condition: Very Good+. Dust Jacket Condition: Good dj. Illustrated by (dj and frontispiece) Dom J. Lavin (illustrator). First Edition. [nice clean book with only light shelfwear; jacket is heavily edgeworn, with various small nicks and tears, minor paper loss at a couple of corners]. Anti-communist novel that "takes the reader through a social, political and educational intrigue that winds through the halls of America's leading educational institutions. Many of the leading characters are nationally known figures, some disguised for the story's purpose -- others are introduced by name and alias -- all woven into a gripping story of mystery and dramatic action faithfully portraying a condition that will amaze the reading public." This was the first of several similarly sensationalistic and alarmist novels by this author (1872-1953), a World War I veteran who was also a prominent American Legionnaire, and was EXTREMELY exercised about radicals -- socialists! -- communists!! (or maybe all three!) plotting to take over America, starting (of course) with the nation's college campuses. He'd be right at home in any one of our present-day Trump-blessed militia groups.

Two anti-Semitic pamphlets by Edwin Marshall Hadley writing under the pseudonym Earnest Sincere. In Facing the Facts, Hadley blames the Jews for the increasing rise of radicalism, socialism, and communism, as well as the planned Depression, all outlined in the Protocols. In his sequel, The Plan In Action, Hadley exposes the Cahilla, the secret Jewish world government, and its structure. The Cahilla members that occupy positions of power in the U.S. are listed near the end, as well as a Recovery Alphabet, a list of U.S. agencies modeled after the USSR's Bolshevik groupings. A sequel to The Plan in Action titled The Curtain Rises was advertised, but we find no evidence that it was published. As noted by Singerman, The Plan in Action was later serialized in C. Leon de Aryan's newspaper "The Broom" (1939-1940) and reprinted in George Dietz's magazine The Liberty Bell (1981). It was also issued as a pamphlet by James K. Warner under the title The Cahilla Unmasked (Sons of Liberty) and by Walter White as The Lurking Shadow (Westsern Front). Both in stapled wrappers (9 ½" x 6 ¼"), 29 p.; 20 p. An illustration of a radical attacking U.S. individualism is printed on the inside front wrapper of Facing the Facts. In SIBA (Singerman Bibliography of Anti-Semitic Texts).
