Hardcover. Condition: Good. 3rd Edition. Red Cloth Quarter binsing with laid on paper title slip, decorative patterned paper boards, 175 x 120 mm approx. Marbled end papers, [iv] + 220 pp. Decorative title with Coat of Arms to reverse. 3rd Edition 1845. Purported to have been written by Lady Willoughby (of Parham Sussex) and published in the style of a 17th C book in a specially designed font by Charles Whittingham at his Chiswick Press. it is in fact fictitious - having been written by Hannah Mary Rathbone (1798-1878). The copy offered has an interesting provenance. It was purchased from the library of the Barnes / Ward family Hurstpierpoint. Sir John Barnes being a former British Ambassador to the Netherland and previously Israel. His wife- Cynthia was the daughter of Adolphus Ward - a master of Peterhouse Cambridge. The reverse of the front free end paper has a pencil inscription to Mrs Lancaster? from the author of- ? ( indecipherable) June (18)45. Please see our images of the actual book offered for sale for further details and condition. Good ( The book has at one time been re backed with the original very faded cloth spine and title slip laid on with replacement red cloth under and the internal hinges reinforced with same. Edges of paper covered boards rubbed and with a little general shelf soiling. There is a longhand ink note tipped onto the front free end paper providing some of the above info- regarding the author. Book plate of Cynthia and John Barnes to front paste down. Pencil name and address of A L Ward (wife of Adolphus) under the pencil insc. mentioned above. No other notable defects).…

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - Trieste Publishing has a massive catalogue of classic book titles. Our aim is to provide readers with the highest quality reproductions of fiction and non-fiction literature that has stood the test of time. The many thousands of books in our collection have been sourced from libraries and private collections around the world. The titles that Trieste Publishing has chosen to be part of the collection have been scanned to simulate the original. Our readers see the books the same way that their first readers did decades or a hundred or more years ago. It is highly unlikely that this would occur with one of our books. Our extensive quality control ensures that the readers of Trieste Publishing's books will be delighted with their purchase. Our staff has thoroughly reviewed every page of all the books in the collection, repairing, or if necessary, rejecting titles that are not of the highest quality. This process ensures that the reader of one of Trieste Publishing's titles receives a volume that faithfully reproduces the original, and to the maximum degree possible, gives them the experience of owning the original work.We pride ourselves on not only creating a pathway to an extensive reservoir of books of the finest quality, but also providing value to every one of our readers. Generally, Trieste books are purchased singly - on demand, however they may also be purchased in bulk.
