El Cerebro es la primera traducción al español de Le Cerveau, libro de Guillermo Deisler publicado originalmente en Francia en 1975 a través de la editorial Nouvelles éditions polaires del poeta Julien Blaine. Pospuesta su publicación debido al golpe de estado en Chile, El Cerebro es una obra que contiene en su relato las consecuencias del apresamiento del artista por la dictadura militar y su posterior exilio a Europa. En sus páginas este libro contiene diversos poemas visuales en los que reflexiona acerca de la "imagen de consumo" a través de ciertas visiones que repetitivamente van apareciendo sobre la silueta de una cabeza humana. Luego, conforme el desarrollo de los acontecimientos nacionales, la obra adquiere un tono de denuncia ante los crímenes de la dictadura y demuestra un ánimo de derrota ante el fin del proyecto de la Unidad Popular. No obstante, a pesar de la herida infligida a una generación, la obra cierra con un mensaje de esperanza para el futuro. La presente reedición añade un texto de Julien Blaine. En esta publicación, originalmente publicada en 1971, en Antofagasta, Deisler construye una secuencia de 5 imágenes unidas por el agujero producido por la acción de un arma de fuego. Irónicamente el único texto de esta obra es una onomatopeya que nos indica el disparo que encadena todas las imágenes. "Poesía Visual: Deisler, poemas visivos y proposiciones a realizar" se publica 50 años después de la edición original, siendo la primera realizada por el artista en sistema de impresión offset. Esta reedición facsimilar cuenta con el apoyo del Fondo del Libro y la Lectura, convocatoria 2021. La obra, dentro del catálogo del artista, es un espacio de transición en el lenguaje poético de Deisler hacia algunos lenguajes que persistirán en su trabajo posterior, como es el uso del collage y el ensamble tipográfico. A estas se suman estrategias utilizadas en obras como GRRR (1969) que permanecerán en las obras posteriores, tal como las "proposiciones a realizar", que se componen de elementos materiales que buscan posibilitar instancias de lectura activa, a través de la proposición de diversas acciones que debe completar el lector. En cuanto a las proposiciones que se plantean en la obra, se encuentra un sobre aéreo inserto en una página del libro donde el autor invita al lector a hacerle llegar reflexiones sobre un juego con palitos de fósforos; así también existe un cambucho de papel kraft con la posibilidad de arrancarlo para desechar los residuos del lector.
