Diese Wissenslücken betreffen nicht nur die gesundheitlichen Auswirkungen, sondern auch die Quellen, die generellen Vorkommen und die Ausbreitung von Ultrafeinstaub. Insbesondere in Hinblick auf die breite Diskussion in der Öffentlichkeit und den Massenmedien zur Gesundheitsproblematik von Umweltpartikeln sind diese Wissenslücken als problematisch anzusehen.
