Good or better with some faded spots on the coversand a small hole near the top of the front joint. One page is missing the tip of a corner. Gresley (1801-1876), an…Anglican divine and high churchman, was entrenched in the Trachtarian movvement of 1833. There is a manuscript poem in pencil on the rear endpapers praising God and Sunday evening. I cannot find this as a published poem or hymn lyric, nor can I say that it is not original.

A historically detailed and researched fictionalised account of this event in the English Civil War. A nice copy of this popular work, aimed primarily at a younger readership.

He had a long political career serving as a Conservative MP from 1864 until 1906, twice serving as Chancellor of the Exchequer and briefly as Leader of the Opposition in 1886. .
