Spalding had listened faithfully to Bob Prince and Nellie King's broadcast of each game as they described Willie Stargell, Dave Giusti, Dock Ellis Steve Blass, Manny Sanguillen, Dave Cash, Bob Robertson, Richie Hebner, manager Danny Murtaugh, Vic Davallio, Rennie Stennett, Luke Walker-these were Spalding's boys of summer.
