Il secondo tomo comprende: "Decretales D, Gregorii papae IX. cum additionibus D. Augustini Caravitae.", pp (54), 1388 (i. e. 1378), (53), (2) bianche per la "Margarita decretalium"; 48 per le "Additiones super decret. admodum illustris celeberrimi iureconsulti Augustini Caravitae", con proprio frontespizio. Contiene silografie a piena pagina di "Arbor consanguinitatis" e "Arbor affinitatis". Vistosi errori di collazione, come in tutti i tomi. Esemplare in buone condizioni, macchiette ad alcune carte, bruniture uniformi ad alcune carte, rinforzo con integrazione di carta a p 769, tarletti alle pp 919-926. Il terzo tomo comprende: "Liber sextum decretalium D. Bonifacii Papae VIII Clementis papae V.", pp (8), 592; pp 22, (2) bianche per le "Additiones super sexto, Prosperi Caravitae.", con proprio frontespizio; 243, (9) per le "Clementinae Constitutiones", con proprio frontespizio, con silografie a piena pagina di "Arbor consanguinitatis" e "Arbor affinitatis". 162, (i. e. 262), (2) bianche, (32) per "Extravagantes tum viginti Ioannis Papae XXII", con proprio frontespizio. Esemplare in buone condizioni, gore diffuse non gravi, tarletti non gravi nel margine esterno bianco di poche carte. Testo a due colonne, incorniciato dalle glosse; testo dell'Indice a tre colonne. Nella variante censita da Biblioteche Spagnole, i frontespizi, anzich? il giglio dei Giunti, recano ritratto silografico di Gregorio XIII. Magniloquente, bellissima edizione del monumentale "Concordia discordantium canonum" da cui ha inizio il diritto canonico (sebbene accolto come testo di riferimento nei tribunali, non ebbe mai l'approvazione pontificia come codice ufficiale ecclesiastico). Il "Decretum Gratiani" conobbe vicende travagliate nella Chiesa post-tridentina, per la quale il diritto era vissuto come un tema centrale, siano ora le questioni giurisdizionali, sia ora il tema dei riordino delle fonti del diritto canonico; nel 1553-'54 aveva visto la luce in Lione il "Decretum" glossato dall'eretico Du Moulin, in seguito reimpresso senza nome del chiosatore proibito, cui seguirono censure ed edizioni espurgate non solo dal nome, ma dalle note del commentatore. Queste traversie editoriali si intrecciano, sullo scorcio del secolo XVI, con il faticoso processo di revisione del "Decretum", voluto da Pio V e continuato sotto Gregorio XIII. Il lavoro dei correttori romani si concluse solo con l'edizione del 1582. Ai testi fondamentali del "Corpus Iuris Canonici" se ne aggiungono altri due a fine Cinquecento: le "Extravagantes" di Giovanni XXII; le "Extravagantes communes". Al "Liber sextus" di Bonifacio VIII, detto cos? perch? rappresentava il seguito dei 5 libri del "Liber extra", pur essendo a sua volta suddiviso in 5 libri, seguono dunque le "Clementinae" dovute a Clemente V, le "Extravagantes" di Giovanni XXII, (Jaime Duesa nato a Cahors nel 1245 e morto ad Avignone nel 1334. Fu vescovo di Avignone nel 1310 e vescovo di Porto nel 1312. Fu eletto pontefice nel 1316 e pubblic? queste 20 decretali, poi inserite nel "Corpus iuris canonici") e le "Extravagantes communes" (due raccolte, queste ultime, d?iniziativa privata). Negli anni '80 del XVI secolo, il lavoro dei correttori romani di emendazione dei testi, secondo le direttive dei Padri Tridentini, ? terminato: la nuova versione postconciliare dell'opera rester? l'unica legittima ed in vigore fino al 1917.
