Among the books he illustrated are: SINBAD OF THE COAST GUARD; AMERICAN INDIAN; MARYLAND AND VIRGINIA ROUNDABOUT; ICELAND ROUNDABOUT; and SCANDINAVIAN ROUNDABOUT]. From the Dust Jacket: "The reminiscences and anecdotes in CLOSE TO GLORY were contributed by the writers, artists, and photographers who served on YANK magazine in WWII. They also came from original correspondence exchanged between the editor, Joe McCarthy, and overseas press correspondents during the war. [The book provides] accurate first-person accounts of men reporting a war under intense pressures, releasing their emotions in humor and in some cases recording their abhorrence of war." .
