Il primo tomo contiene "Le dodici giornate di Silvan Cattaneo"; il…secondo riporta "le notizie dell'antica Valle Ateniese e in fine parte d'un poema intitolato Fortunopoli in parte a questa istoria appartenente". L'autore, Silvan Cattaneo (XVI secolo) finge di guidare una brigata di amici in vari luoghi del lago di Garda, intessendo nel racconto alcune novelle e componimenti in versi, e fornendo numerose descrizioni delle diverse localit.Il progetto editoriale prevedeva l'uscita, mai avvenuta, di un terzo volume, di Bongianni Grattarolo, annunciato nel frontespizio del primo tomo da intitolarsi "Notizia del nome e delle opere dei pi? illustri uomini della Riviera". Silvan Cattaneo, figlio di Gian Maria di SalÚ, visse per parecchio tempo nella villa di Belgioioso di Manerba nel XVI secolo. Fu oratore eloquente, verseggiatore e filosofo. Amico di Jacopo Bonfadio, che gli indirizzÚ una lettera, scrisse le Dodici giornate di ricreazione pubblicate a Venezia nel 1745 assieme a Fortunopoli, un poemetto in venti canti. Celebrato dal Bonfadio, dal Voltolina, dal veronese Bartolomeo Verlato, venne annoverato dallo storico bresciano Ottavio Rossi "fra gli scrittori della sua et? celeberrimo".Grattarolo nato a SalÚ intorno al 1530, stando all'ipotesi formulata dallo Zaniboni, socio della locale accademia letteraria, indifferentemente detta Unanime o Concorde, noto soprattutto come poeta tragico e cultore dei classici, fu autore della Historia della Riviera di SalÚ, opera che raccoglie, oltre a notizie storiche, anche leggende di carattere locale. Redatta intorno al 1587, l'opera fu pubblicata dal fratello del G., Agostino, a Brescia per i tipi di V. Sabbio, nel 1599. Discreto esemplare con il primo tomo parzialmente slegato e staccato dalla coperta, un fascicolo allentato, secondo tomo con aloni di umido pesanti nella prima met? e verso la fine Lozzi 4668.
