Over 100 splendid photographs, about 100 drawings, sketches and plans, a detailed ten-page index of illustrations, and a twelve-page index to the text itself. It was written by J Alfred Gotch, an English architect and architectural historian. It was first published in 1909 but, in 1985, it was put back into print. This is a first edition of that first reprint. It is plain burgundy boards with brilliant gold lettering on the spine. No dust jacket.  336 pages. It appears that the original plates were used--it has the 1909 typeface. Off-size (7 1/2" x 9 1/2"), large type. Aside from some darkening of the pages, it is in pristine condition.…
