An attractive and unusual edition of Lord Byron's work, introduced by the poet William Rossetti. This printing matches one in The British Library, which is catalogued as "Illustrated by Thomas Seccombe [or rather, by Ford Madox Brown]". (It is not clear why Ford Madox Brown would be using the name of another artist as a pseudonym.) This edition also matches the description in The British Library: "Without the additional titlepage and the frontispiece, the latter being replaced by a portrait. With different illustrations from the [1880] edition, that facing p. 410 signed: "M. W. Ridley.".

Magazine / Periodical First Edition
Single Issue Magazine. Condition: Very Good. Illustrated by Bransom, Paul (illustrator). First Edition. This highly controversial issue featured an article by Milton Mayer entitled "The Case Against The Jew" in which he argued that "The Jews of America are afraid that their number is up. they know that the postwar collapse will remind a bitter and bewildered nation that 'the Jews got us into the war.'" - page 18. The Post subsequently received thousands of complaints, resulting in the magazine announcing that it "deeply regrets the misunderstanding" and that "the Post has never been, is not now and never will be anti-Semitic in belief or expression." (Reference: JTA April 16, 1942). Mayer [1908-1986], was born into a Jewish home and went on to write "They Thought They Were Free - The Germans, 1933-45", which studied the citizens of Hitler's Germany. Other Features: Heroes Wholesale - Uncle Sam sets out to find men to man the planes of the Air Force; There is Only One Mistake - To Do Nothing - Advice to critics of the war effort by Charles F.
