All'occhiello dedica autografa firmata dell'autore: 'a Enrico Somaré, poeta italiano, omaggio devoto di un poeta francese'. Edizione originale di questa rara raccolta di poesie e prose poetiche in francese. Picco…le mancanze al dorso e ai margini della brossura; buono all'interno, e impreziosito dalla bella dedica. Paolo Emilio GIUSTI (Venezia, 1884) scrisse versi sia in italiano che in francese, sempre in schema metrici molto stretti. La sua opera ha certe assonanze con la poesia di Verlaine, o magari di Swinburne in inglese, più che con quella di Mallarmé, ma è a quest'ultimo che Royère la paragona nella sua prefazione. E' questa prefazione un bel pezzo di critica, che sostiene l'unità della prosa e della poesia partendo da principi Simbolisti. Vi si dice, in particolare, che il ritmo non dovrebbe essere imposto ad una poesia, ma emergere dalla complessità verbale di questa, considerata come il culmine del pensiero. Jean ROYERE (Aix-en-Provence, 1871 - Parigi, 1956) fu poeta, critico ed editore. Nel 1906 fonda la rivista La Phalange, organo della poesia e dell'arte Simbolista, e ne è redattore capo. Nel 1925 lancia - presso l'editore Albert Messein di Parigi - una collana di opere con lo stesso nome, alla quale questo volume appartiene. L'editore Albert Messein pubblicò Verlaine, Baudelaire, e Mallarmé. Prima di questa silloge Giusti aveva pubblicato opere con importanti editori milanesi e romani, come lo Studio Editoriale Lombardo, Bottega di Poesia, La Voce; tra queste opere figura anche una traduzione di An Ideal Husband di Oscar Wilde (messa in scena a Roma nel 1918).
