Leather at spines faded from burgundy to tan. Marbled endsheets and edges. Each volume illustrated with a tissue guarded etching done by a variety of artists. Binding sound and contents neat. Prior owner name and Christmas 1884 date penned top edge of first blank leaf each volume, his surname penned neatly top edge of each title page. Tissue guards have offset light toning to the frontis and the facing title page each volume. Here and there some light rubbing and light instances of skinning to the leather at corners and surfaces. Some light rubbing and wear to the surfaces of the two raised bands on the spines and some wear to several of the title labels. Sound and clean; complete as issued. VG- thus .
