Nr. 1249 - Karte ist nicht gelaufen. - Gerhardt, (1883 - 1961): Die Schwester Reinhold Oskar Gerhardts erhielt ihre Gesangsausbildung 1899-1903 als Schülerin Marie Hedmonts am Leipziger Konservatorium, wurde dann von Arthur Nikisch entdeckt und gefördert und gab 1903 ihren ersten Liederabend in Leipzig. Bis 1904 sang sie am dortigen Opernhaus, gab dann jedoch ihre Bühnenlaufbahn auf, um sich ganz ihrer Karriere als Liedersängerin zu widmen. Erste große Erfolge hatte sie bei ihren Auftritten 1906 in London, unternahm 1912 ihre erste USA-Tournee und feierte Triumphe in Spanien, Rußland, Holland und Belgien. 1933 emigrierte sie zusammen mit ihrem Ehemann Fritz Kohl, der seine Stellung beim Rundfunk verloren hatte, nach England, ging von London aus weiter ihrer Konzerttätigkeit nach und war später auch als Pädagogin tätig. Bekannt wurde G. vor allem als Interpretin von Liedern Schuberts, Schumanns, Brahms' und Hugo Wolfs. (DBE).
