Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book provides a comprehensive collection of forms and precedents for use in all matters before magistrates, a crucial resource for both magistrates and their clerks. Published in 1850, it addresses a crucial need for uniformity and consolidation of legal forms following the implem…entation of the Jervis Acts, which significantly impacted the practice before magistrates. The author highlights the inconsistencies and inadequacy of previous legal forms in light of the new legislation. The book offers a solution by adapting and modifying existing forms to the Jervis Acts, providing an invaluable reference for navigating the changing legal landscape. The bookââ â¢s emphasis on consistency and accessibility underscores its enduring significance for understanding the legal procedures of its time. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

DO NOT BUY THIS BOOKS IF YOU DO NOT INTEND TO PAY THE PRIORITY MAIL RATE BECAUSE YOUR ORDER WILL BE REFUSED AND I WILL NOT TRADE WITH YO…U AGAIN. *** This is a UK EIGHTH edition hardcover published by Butterworth & Co in 1862. The photos show the condition better than I can describe, however overall I am grading the book as Very Good condition for its age. The book has a straight spine with sharp corners and firm spine ends. The page edges are toned, but the interior text is clean and tightly bound, with the exception of the odd foxing spot. There is an inscription from a previous owner on the front end paper. The title page confirms the EIGHTH edition, published in 1862.

Containing the Licensing Acts, 1872, 1874, and the Other Acts in Force as to Alehouses, Beerhouses, Wine & Refreshment Houses, Shops, &c. Where Intoxicating Liquors are Sold, and Billiard and Occasional Licences. London: Butterworths, 1874.…12mo, contemporary full straight-grain morocco gilt, elaborately gilt-decorated spine, all edges marbled, marbled endpapers. $1250.Uncommon treatise on licensing laws for taverns, the first edition to include the Licensing Acts of both 1872 and 1874, handsomely bound. The complex Licensing Act of 1872Ñintended for "repressing of drunkenness, and restraining the inordinate haunting of inns, ale-houses, and other victualling houses"Ñcaused a great deal of confusion regarding new regulations on sales, ingredients, hours, etc. George Colwell Oke, chief clerk to the Lord Mayor of London and author of a number of well-regarded books on legal topics, published the first edition of this treatise shortly after the passing of the act to provide a complete explanation of the law as it affected taverns as of that date. The work appears here in a new, updated version following the Licensing Act of 1874, edited by Middle Temple barrister William Cunningham Glen after Oke's death. Despite the title page calling this the second edition, it is in fact the first to incorporate the changes of 1874. Sweet & Maxwell II, 261. Contents extremely clean and fresh, in a lovely binding with the spine evenly toned by age.
