George Rodger (1908-1995) photographed the effects of the Blitz of London and then worked for Life the rest of World War II. He was the first photographer to enter Belsen. After the war, he founded the Magnum photography agency with Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Capa, David 'Chim' Seymour, and William Vandivert. Sick of war, Rodger went to Africa where he lived with and photographed the Nuba. He is recognized as one of the best photojournalists of the 20th-century. The December 1957 issue of Foto Fan Fare, a monthly pamphlet issued "in the interest of Photographers and Camera Clubs" with a one-page review of a Henri Cartier-Bresson exhibition by George F. Fuchs titled "The Limits of Candid Photography." Also in the issue is a round-up of goings-on at the Northern California Council of Camera Clubs, articles on amateur photographers Edward Jacobs and Gertrude Hauser, and images by Guy F. Spencer and Elmore Adams reproduced. The mailing label to the front identifies this copy as the one sent to the author of the Cartier-Bresson article. 8 pages, glued at the gutter; b&w throughout; 7 x 10 inches. Condition: Fair; mailing label to the front, folded both horizontally and vertically, well-handled, and the title of the Cartier-Bresson article circled in red grease pencil.
