Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book dissects the historical evolution of teacher training in Germany, tracing its origins in the 17th century through its expansion and eventual crystallization into a system of professional training schools. It positions this development within the broader context of pedagogical reform, before examining the philosophical motivations that have shaped the educational landscape in Germany, and the influence of these motivations on teacher training. The author delves into the thematic depths of pedagogy, exploring the concepts of education as a function of the state, the qualified teacher as an expert in the field, and the role of teacher training in fostering pedagogical expertise. The book concludes by underscoring the significance of professional training in shaping a highly qualified and exclusive teaching force in Germany, a model that has influenced educational systems worldwide.
