Rosenmüller, ein bedeutender Predigt- und Erbauungsschriftsteller, setzte sich neben einer Umgestaltung der Kirche im Sinne der Aufklärung (er forderte u.a. die Abschaffung des Exorzismus, der Privatbeichte und ein neues Gesangbuch) für die Verbesserung des Schulwesens ein.
