Hardback. Condition: Good. None (illustrator). First edition. A first edition of this important work on physiological chemistry, produced as a supplement to Lehmann's Physiological Chemistry. First edition. Containing fifteen lithographed plates of microscopic pictures, with some colour images. Lacking pages of text (xii, 29pp). Being a supplement to Karl Gotthelf Lehmann's Physiological Chemistry, exploring the science dealing with the chemical aspects of physiological and biological systems in body functions. Produced by Otto Funke, a German physiologist, associate professor to the medical faculty at Leipzig, and a professor of physiology at the University of Freiburg. Funke was the first scientist to successfully crystallize hemoglobin. Dated from the Royal Society Library. In the original quarter cloth binding with card boards and ribbon ties. Externally, sound with light rubbing and minor chipping to the extremities. Fading to the spine with light marks to the boards. All ribbon ties are present. Front hinge starting but firm. Internally, plates are held by one string and loosely inserted. Plates I, II, and III are detached from the others. Pages are very bright with the odd small handling mark. Light spotting and the odd crease to the protective paper wraps. Good. book.
