Mit wissenschaftlicher Sorgfalt weist er nach, wie das Evangelium im Laufe der geschichtlichen Entwicklung von fremden Elementen überlagert wurde, sich oftmals bewußt oder unbewußt in den Dienst bestimmter weltlicher Ordnungen stellte und damit an Kraft einbüßte.
