"The five Frisbie children (their father was the writer Robert Dean Frisbie and their mother a lovely Polynesian girl) enjoyed an unusual upbringing in the South Sea Islands. This charming, offbeat memoir is Johnny Frisbie's own account of her childhood and of her remarkable father - who became the children's only parent-teacher-friend after their mother's tragic death in 1938. Diving for mantrap clams; exploring nearby atolls in a precarious outrigger canoe; devising exciting games for moonlit nights on the beach; eating raw fish and roasted 'wide awake' birds; surviving the lashing fury of a typhoon while tied to the top of a coconut palm . . . Johnny Frisbie recalls her childhood with nostalgia and delightful humor." - from dust-jacket blurb.; Signed by Author. Illustrated by Dunn, Tom (illustrator).
