Dedicated to his fellow-sailor Sir Charles Vinicombe Penrose (1759-1830), retired Vice-Admiral - Penrose also subscribed for five copies. According t…o the short preface, Kruger had been a mariner for twelve years and had been shipwrecked three times; he was the son of a German immigrant but resident in Bodmin. Very scarce: Copac locates copies at the BL, Bodleian, Durham University and National Maritime Museum; WorldCat adds no further copies at all. Not in Jackson, Annals of English Verse, or in Johnson, Provincial Poetry.
