The first edition of Benjamin Fawcett: Colour Printer and Engraver, a charming and very scarce biography written by Anglo-Irish clergyman and parson-naturalist Fra…ncis Orpen Morris. In the publisher's original blue cloth, with a frontispiece of Fawcett and four monochrome plates. Collated complete. With Fawcett having printed many of his works, Morris writes a personal account of their collaboration as well as many touching anecdotes on his character and skill. Morris was most famous for his ornithology, particularly through his work British-Birds, and was a founder of the Plumage League. In the publisher's original blue cloth. Externally, smart, with minimal marks. Slight rubbing to joints and edges. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine, and to the extremities. Faint spotting to end papers. Internally, firmly bound. Minor wear to hinge between pp.48-49. Pages are bright and mostly clean, with minor spots to first couple and final leaves. Very Good. Unknown (illustrator). book.
