In the year 2000 the author, Jongerling, received 2 male specimens of Morpho cisseis (C. & R. Felder, 1860), collected in Rondonia, Brazil. These two specimens seem to be a perfect mix between the nominate race in Brazil and the ssp. cissestricta from Bolivia. These two specimens are described here as Morpho cisseis rondoniensis. The 36 plates give an overview of Morpho hercules, telemachus, amphitryon, hecuba and cisseis. In order to keep this part at a reasonable price, only a selection of the subspecies is shown. Two supplements with a more detailed text and illustrations of all subspecies known will be published. The authors also expect some changes in the nomenclature of M. hecuba and M. cisseis, which will be published in the supplement. 4 pp., 36 color plates, stapled folio.…

This volume of the series Butterflies of the World tries to fill a gap between the overwhelmingly studied Parnassius species and the yet neglected groups comprising Hypermnestra, Luehdorfia and Zerynthiini (s.l.) which form a liaison between these units. The detailed text to this volume is published in supplement 20. 5 pp. + 19 color plates and 2 color plates with type specimens, stapled folio.…

In the first part of this work, the authors present the genera Anaeomorpha Rothschild, 1894, and Noreppa Rydon, 1971, together with Archaeoprepona Fruhstorfer, 1915, comprising the species amphimachus, meander and demophon. The remainder of Archaeoprepona will be presented in a second part. All genera, species and almost all subspecies are illustrated and discussed. The arrangement of genera, species and subspecies is based upon the publications of Fruhstorfer (1916) and Lamas (2004). A great number of specimens have been examined, including typematerial or photographs, in several private and institutional collections. In order to clearly show and compare differences in colour of the metallic shining bands on the upper surface of some of the butterflies, all specimens were photographed under identical conditions. Only in this way can accurate colour be presented, as the colour changes when the position and/or the lighting is changed. 11 pp. + 45 plates, stapled folio.…
