Deze uitgave uit 1650 bevat een opdracht aan Willem II, een 'Tot den Leser', drempelverzen van Jacob Cats en Caspar Barlaeus en vele honderden anecdoten en gezegden uit de klassieken, verdeeld in 43 hoofdstukken.
