Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. Previous owner inked name on front free page, dated 1936 (name is Lewis O. Lawyer). Additional date on inside front cover, 8-16-32. No other markings in book. No DJ. Fraying to top spine edge and cover tips. Appears perhaps the bottom page corner tips were damp stained as they appear a touch rippled (other books from this same previous owner are the same, so it's possible he simply wet his fingers before he turned each page). Also this previous owner had a tendency to underline a very minor amount in his books. I see none in this book but it is always such a small amount that it's possible I missed it.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Neuware - 'The Lower Fungi: Phycomycetes' is a foundational scientific text that provides a detailed and systematic exploration of the fungal groups historically classified as Phycomycetes. Written by renowned mycologist Harry Morton Fitzpatrick, this work offers an in-depth analysis of the morphology, taxonomy, and life cycles of these organisms, ranging from simple aquatic water molds to more complex terrestrial forms. The book is structured to guide the reader through various orders and families, emphasizing the evolutionary relationships and structural characteristics that define the lower fungi. Fitzpatrick's meticulous approach makes this volume an essential reference for students and researchers in mycology, plant pathology, and general botany. By synthesizing the scientific knowledge of the early 20th century, the author clarifies the classification of diverse species, providing clear descriptions and illustrative insights into their biological significance. This scholarly work remains a significant contribution to the field of life sciences, capturing a critical era in the development of mycological classification. It serves as an invaluable resource for understanding the historical foundations of fungal biology and the intricate diversity of the natural world. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it. Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book offers a comprehensive analysis of the lower fungi known as Phycomycetes, which are crucial organisms in the broader context of the fungal kingdom. These fungi exhibit significant heterogeneity, featuring both simple and complex morphologies. The author delves into the evolutionary origins of Phycomycetes, exploring their connections to algae and other primitive life forms. The book examines the diverse reproductive strategies employed by these fungi, including both sexual and asexual mechanisms. It also sheds light on the ecological roles of Phycomycetes, highlighting their impact on plant health, nutrient cycling, and aquatic ecosystems. Through a detailed examination of their taxonomy, morphology, and biological processes, this book provides a comprehensive understanding of the Phycomycetes, their significance in nature, and their relevance to various fields of study. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
