Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good -. No edition or printing statement; features illustrations by the author. Many ambiguities about this "Black Spearman," beginning with he seems to be right-handed on the dust jacket and left-handed on the front board; he's also not Black but Native American though viewed through the romanticized colonial gaze of the time. The book is square and unmarked; bottom corners and spine ends bumped; toning to the pages; a small area of paper residue on the front endpaper where a bookplate has been removed. The dust jacket is not priced; chipped and edgeworn with several short closed tears; Brodart protected.

Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. This Near Fine book was published by BOOKS, Inc. In 1939; it is 8-1/4" x 5-3/8" with 288 numbered pages; it has no full page illustrations; instead, it has a small drawing at the beginning of each chapter and at the end of some. This book is square, spotlessly clean, free of edge dings and corner bumps. The spine ends have suffered only the slightest of bumps. Front panel and spine lettering and decorative lines are flawless. Except for a small book store sticker on the lower spine corner of the front paste down, the interior of the book is completely free of writing, stray marks, stains and paper damage of any sort. The paper is very mildly toned and very flexible but it is not brittle; end pages--the book was published without a FREP--have a modest amount of toning. The hinges are very strong and not damaged in any way. A really attractive and well cared for book. The VG jacket has all four corners clipped and has mild general toning;there are small chips at the four corners, no chips but loss of color only at the spine ends; and several 1/2" tears with related folds on the rear panel. An exciting adventure story whose main character is a young American Indian.
