Some plates are by H.K. Halbot Browne [Phiz], though in a restrained style for him.Others are by J.H.Shepherd, J.Salmon , R.Garland and L.Woods. To do so, he took Fearnside and Harrel?s ?History of London,? published 1837, added more engravings from Trotter?s ?Select Illustrated Topography,? published 1839, and put them ?together with five fresh views intended to give the whole an appearance of contemporaneity.? Our copy seems to be an updated version of the 1851 edition, with a frontispiece view of the Exhibition Palace of 1862, and a brief description of the event on the final text leaf., Size : 8vo., Extra-illustrated with 40 (of 34) steel-engraved plates; however, this copy lacks the frontispiece plate called for in the list of plates., References : Holloway 69 (1851 ed.); Adams 211 (1851 ed.), P. (4), blank, frontis, engr. title, blank, title, blank, 1-78, 89-90, 81-88, 105-106, 91-104, 79-80, 107-219, blank, index, list of plates, (2).
