Nella primavera del 2004 esce il comunicato di chiusura della vetreria Bormioli Rocco & Figlio di Parma; "l'ultima goccia" era appena caduta nello stampo dal quale erano usciti, in oltre cento anni, migliaia di bicchieri, bottiglie, vasi che diffonde…vano il logo BRF in tutto il mondo. Nella primavera del 2009 Marco Fallini, dipendente della vetreria per trentaquattro anni, con una Hasselblad SWC e una Leica RE, si aggira all'interno della vetreria per fotografare le architetture della fabbrica, ormai vuote e silenziose, appena prima della loro demolizione. Insieme al fotografo, "timbriamo il cartellino" e "rivediamo" operai e impiegati entrare e uscire dai vari reparti produttivi, i laboratori, gli uffici di direzione, luoghi di un racconto per immagini che evoca la passione per il lavoro di migliaia di dipendenti e la profonda solidarietà che si era sviluppata sotto le ciminiere. Questo volume non è un reportage fotografico sulla lavorazione del vetro, ma una riflessione su quanto la Bormioli ha dato a Parma: "modernità", grazie ad una attività imprenditoriale e industriale tale da renderla uno dei poli tecnologici del vetro più avanzati del mondo, e "umanità", tesa, anche attraverso dure lotte sindacali, a migliorare il tenore di vita dei lavoratori e della stessa città. Il libro si chiude con uno sguardo al futuro: la speranza di preservare, all'interno di un Museo del Vetro, la memoria storica della BRF. Libro.
