hardcover. Condition: good. 1920, 2nd edition, 2nd printing. Red cloth hardcover, no dust jacket, 272 pages, many illustrations. This book grew out of lectures delivered to the Haileybury Natural Science Society. Chapters: Plants and Animals, The Sea and Its Inhabitants, Gills and Lungs, Retiles and Their Kin, From a Reptile to a Bird, the Flight of Birds, the Minds of Men and Animals, the Struggle for Existence, Natural Selection. The contents are in good, although spotty condition; tyhe cover is faded and worn.

The end papers are browned, and there is light foxing here and there throughout the book. A very few pages have been clumsily cut , leaving small spurs and corresponding edge gaps.
