Published in 1924 by A & C Black. Size: 5 1/2 x 8 1/4. Page number: 226. Hardcover. Blue cloth boards with black and gold tiles and an embossed pattern featuring crests on the front and spine. Fourteen chapter include: The Dawn of Civilization, Fiefs and Feudal Tenures, Battle, Murder and Sudden Death, Ecclesiastical Affairs, Privateering and Smuggling, " The Key of The Channel" and The "Garden of Cymodoce". With 32 full page colour illustrations. Condition: Very Good. The boards are clean and the corners and top and bottom of the spine only a little rubbed. The top of the spine has darkened slightly. The binding is tight and the pages unmarked and un-thumbed; but the endpapers are tanned and the whole of the content is affected by foxing. This does affect the printed images however. Condition of jacket: Poor. The jacket is torn and grubby. There is a piece missing from the front. It is in a sleeve which maintains its integrity.

No date, though definitely post-1921 (photo of George V visit of that year). Generally good condition, though small (half-inch) tear on front cover.

Condition: Good. First edition (hardback). 8vo (23cm by 16cm), xiii, 294pp. 76 colour plates, each protected by a tissue, but lacks the map. Original decorated blue cloth, gilt titling to the front board and the spine, top edge gilt. There is a repaired 2cm tear to the hea dof the spine, scattered foxing of the contents, and the binding is a little rubbed. Overall, this book is in good condition.
