Patterned endpapers are age-toned and carry one black latin Ex-Libris Bristow stamp on the celery green decorative endpapers with white ships wheels scat…ttered all over and The English Scene in grass green printed at head of fep and frt pastedown. This appears to be a personal volume. There are no other markings whatsoever. The cream colored 249 pp text is tight, crisp and unmarked save for moderate age toning. Original un-dlipped (and un-priced) age-toned tan background dust jacket shows an illustration of a green sail boat and waves with a white sail in front of a blue sky on frt panel, green title and blue author name and blue background backstrip of dj has a blurry, but still legible, title printed there. 1/4" of loss across head of spine extending around book to head of both frt and rear gutters, plus a couple of surface rubs taking a bit of the blue color from the dj backstrip, but no holes, are the only issues. This is volume three of The English Scene edited by Mr. Eric Parker who has written the introduction. Illustrated with 8 b/w full page plates. Chapters include: The Rivers, The Seas, The Havens, The Ships, The Coasts, The Ghosts, The Men.

These are 75 plate photographs, including a frontispiece of Lord Lonsdale shooting at Lowther Castle, and forty one vignettes, including several diagrams and a map of the Dunwich marshes.This copy with the bookplate of Christopher Perkins to the recto of the second page of publisher's advertisements to the front of the work.This is a thorough guide to the modern shooting methods suitable for the moor, field, and shore. Endowed with the collective knowledge of fifteen contributors including Eric Parker, Leslie Sprake, and J. C. M. Nichols, it contains specific chapters on the shooting and preservation of various birds, hare drives, punt gunning, and the legal aspect of shooting. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally, generally smart with slight discolouration of the cloth and some minor handling marks. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and the extremities. Front hinge strained. Bookplate to the recto of the second page of publisher's advertisements to the front of the work resulting in paste action, visible to its verso. Internally, binding is a touch strained at the centre. Pages are a trifle age toned however generally bright and clean with mild spotting to the outer leaves. Very Good Indeed.
