Condition: New. Idioma/Language: Español. Jean-François Elslander nació en Bruselas el 19 de septiembre de 1865. A los diecinueve años empezó a trabajar como maestro de escuela en Saint-Josse-ten-Noode. A los veinticuatro se traslada a vivir a Watermael-Boitsford, a una colonia de artistas bohemios y libertarios. Allí conoce en 1910 a Georges Giroux, al que introduce en los ambientes artísticos belgas y ayuda a inaugurar la GGG (Galería Georges Giroux) que contribuyó de forma decisiva a modernizar el arte belga de principios del siglo XX, con exposiciones como las de James Ensor, Toulouse Lautrec, Edouard Manet, Kandinsky, etc. Escribió algunos libros de pedagogía, como La educación desde el punto de vista sociológico (1898) o La infancia liberada (1948). Escritor inquieto, Elslander militó de joven en el movimiento naturalista, y con el tiempo llegó a convertirse al decadentismo. El protagonista de Rabia carnal (1890), un ser primitivo y miserable llamado el Marú, vive en una torre una suerte de crepuscular Casa Usher en medio de un bosque con Madeleine, la hija de una ex-amante muerta. El Marú está obsesionado con ella, poseído por una pasión descontrolada cuya rabia intenta saciar, y la acosa implacablemente, hasta que Madeleine decide huir de la torre. El Marú ya no puede vivir sin ella y la perseguirá sin descanso con la única idea de poseerla. La narración nos describe con todo detalle la locura del Marú: lo que comienza como una historia verosímil va hundiéndose poco a poco en el delirio y la alucinación. *** Nota: Los envíos a España peninsular, Baleares y Canarias se realizan a través de mensajería urgente.
