The volume published in conjunction with an exhibition at Stockholms Auktionsverk 6.6-9.8.1991. - - - "During the autumn of 1990, we were told that an exhibition of Livonian and Courlandian silver was taking place in Rundale (Ruhenthal) castle outside Bauska in southern Latvia. We went there and got to see a fantastic exhibition where many new research findings were also presented. The idea was born that this material should be made available to a wider circle. A collaborative project was started between the Art Industry Museum in Helsinki and AB Stockholms Auktionsverk - a collaboration that resulted in the exhibition Silver Treasures from Livland, Estonia and Courland".
