Published in 1968 by Benjamin Blom of New York. All volumes in very good condition. XVI, 54pp (text) & unpaginated pages of plates. Original blue cloth with gold lettering on spines and… gilt decoration on front covers. Top edges blue. Illustrated title pages. Sachs was an architect and engineer who specialised in the prevention of theatre fires. His other main interest was in theatre buildings and stage technology. Between 1896 and 1898 he published his masterwork, the original 3-volume treatise of this edition, including the Royal Opera House and beautifully illustrated with architectural drawings, all of which are in excellent condition in this edition, as is the binding of all volumes. The exhibition included examples of the latest fire fighting equipment and there was also a substantial loan of items on the history of fire including paintings, models, historical equipment etc. Much of this is illustrated in the cata…logue.
