An interesting study of the promontory fortresses, hill forts, camps, and other earthworks of Somerset, covering the Romans, Saxons, Danes and Norman Conquest. Illustrated throughout, including wash and line drawings by Burrow, and a folding map of Somerset to the rear. Collated, complete. Edward J. Burrow (1869-1934) was a prodigious engraver, and also the founder of the printing and publishing firm Edward J. Burrow and Co. He published numerous travel guides, in a couple of series such as The "Borough" Guides, Burrow's "RAC" Guides and Burrow's Grey Guides. In a quarter cloth binding with paper boards.
