Minor issues present such as mild cracking, inscriptions, inserts, light foxing, tanning and thumb marking. Boards have moderate shelf wear with some rubbing, fraying and corner bumping. Hardcover. Condition: Good. 1st Edition. First Edition (NAP, 1917 on the title page). You can see the covers in the photos. They have some toning. The black lettering on the spine is fairly bright. There is some wear at the spine ends including a couple of tiny tears and one tiny loss at both just adjacent to the front cover. There are also areas of rub-through on all of the cover edges and corners. You can see a bit of that off the rear bottom corner and off the rear bottom edge. And there is a thin closed tear below the rear top corner. The middle and bottom page edges are deckled or rough-cut. They did a good job with only a handful of instances of a jagged edge. The book is very solidly bound from cover to cover with nicely tight pages throughout and nicely tight covers as well. The interior of the book is in very good condition. The pages are exceptionally clean. Scrolling through, I'm not finding any instances of soiling. I found one instance of a top corner being folded in. I flattened it out leaving a little crease, far from the print. I didn't find any other conspicuous creasing, a few early pages have a crinkle at their bottom edge. There are no markings in the book. No attachments of any kind. There is a small penned name with 'L VI' next to it. The name is Marion Haslem. I didn't find any other writing anywhere else in the book. 'William Hazlitt was an English essayist, drama and literary critic, painter, social commentator, and philosopher. He is now considered one of the greatest critics and essayists in the history of the English language, placed in the company of Samuel Johnson and George Orwell.'.…
