Utilizando dados… do projecto DANIDA sobre o inquérito às PME com mais de 2.500 empresas transformadoras no Vietname, examinamos os efeitos das instituições no desempenho das empresas, concentrando-nos particularmente nas pequenas e médias empresas. Foram aplicadas regressões de painel multivariado. Os resultados sugerem que as PMEs domiciliadas em províncias com índice de competitividade provincial (PCI) mais elevado têm melhor desempenho do que as PMEs domiciliadas em províncias de baixa classificação.
