Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1st Edition. VG original blue cloth, store-stamps and old price in ink to ffep, otherwise very clean throughout, in GD+ somewhat edgeworn DW, with sunning to spine and edges, and some staining mostly to rear panel, now protected in Brodart sleeve. George Ian Dut hie p…resents a sound and reliable old-spelling text of King Lear. His aim in presenting this critical edition is not to be concerned with exegesis except in so far as it is involved in the consideration of textual problems. His text is based on the First Folio, the assistance of the First Quarto being invoked only where there is good reason. He justifies his editorial procedure in a lengthy introduction, in which the First Quarto and First Folio texts are examined in detail with a view to the determination of their provenance and relative authority. Recommended.
