Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. German and English text.; Paperback.; 23.5 x 30 cm.; 1.4 kg.; 288 pages with colour illustrations.; Used with signs of wear on the exterior and interior. The exterior shows minor edge wear, scuffs and scratches on the front cover, spine and back cover. Interior with minor signs of wear.; Catalogue from an exhibition held at Museum für Lackkunst Munster, from 12 November 2000 to 18 February 2001; and at Collections Baur Geneve, from 11 October 2001 to 13 January 2002.; "The exhibition consists of lacquer objects from the Baur Collection in Geneva. We decided to select only objects from the period 1860-1940 in an attempt to shed new light on the Japanese lacquer art of this period, in particular on the half century between 1890 and 1940. The objects from the Baur Collection also form the core of this catalogue, and have been arranged according to the artists who manufactured them. The artists them- selves have been classified according to artistic school, place of residence or specific craft in chapters III-VII. In addition, several dozens of objects from other collections are illustrated. These photographs were necessary to offer a more representative overview of the history of lacquer art between 1860 and 1940 in chapter II, and also to show the characteristics of the period of Ferns, Feathers and Flowers in chapter VIII. Chapter I provides the reader with a concise historical background. Many people have contributed to this book. A number of them I wish to thank in particular." introduction by Jan Dees.
