Good secure binding. -- A piece of investigative publishing designed to expose how deeply former National Socialist legal figures had successfully re-integrated into the post-WWII legal system of the Federal Republic of Germany (West Germany). This scarce, historically significant documentation was published in Cold War-era communist Poland. During the late 1950s and early 1960s, Eastern Bloc nations (particularly Poland and Czechoslovakia) launched heavily researched campaigns aimed at exposing the failed "denazification" of the West German judiciary. This book was part of that effort. It provides names, case histories and wartime records of West German judges and public prosecutors who had served on Nazi "Special Courts" (Sondergerichte) or the People's Court (Volksgerichtshof). It details how these individuals, who had handed down thousands of politically motivated death sentences under Hitler, were now drawing healthy state pensions or actively presiding over West German courts. The text specifically emphasizes the judges responsible for implementing "legal terror" and enacting brutal racial and political laws in German-occupied Poland and other Eastern European territories between 1939 and 1945. While contemporary Western critics sometimes viewed these publications as pure Eastern Bloc propaganda meant to embarrass the West German government under Konrad Adenauer, the underlying data presented therein was fundamentally accurate. It wasn't until decades later, with the release of modern historical works (like Ingo Müller's Hitler's Justice: The Courts of the Third Reich), that mainstream Western scholarship fully validated and unpacked the staggering level of legal continuity between the Nazi regime and the early West German justice system.…
