Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book tells the life stories of eight celebrated English artists, including Hogarth, Reynolds, and Turner, providing insights into their lives and artistic journeys. The author traces the evolution of painting in Georgian England, when English painters finally shed their inferiority complex and developed a distinctly English style that rivaled and even surpassed the work of their continental counterparts. The book also sheds fresh light on the social and artistic milieu that shaped these painters, revealing how their work reflected the political, cultural, and economic upheavals of the era. By examining their friendships, rivalries, and artistic techniques, this book gives readers a new appreciation of how these painters transformed a national art form. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
