Un texte ne peut suffire à mettre suffisamment en évidence la diversité des caractères botaniques et la belle harmonie des teintes des 97 espèces d'orchidées européennes, réparties en 26 genres, reconnues par la majorité des botanistes. Pour avoir le maximum d'intérêt, il doit être accompagné d'une documentation illustrée. Au début de ce livre, il m'est particulièrement agréable de mentionner la magnifique collaboration qui n'a cessé d'exister entre Roger Dougoud, photographe, laboratoire Photocolor à Genève, et moi-même.
