Dans un champ photographique éclaté, qu'il serait illusoire de vouloir unifier au détriment des différences et des fractures, l'auteure a conjointement mis en exergue les questionnements propres à l'extrême contemporain : soit l'impossibilité du paysage et la crise de l'urbanité, l'émergence de «non-lieux» et la tentative pour inventer des lieux où vivre, d'une part ; l'inquiétude du sujet vis-à-vis de lui-même, d'autre part, comme si le portrait, loin d'être une évidence, achoppait sur une identité toujours plus précaire, qui fut déjà soumise à l'implacable déconstruction structuraliste du sujet.
