Transport history series written by Les Dew and Mark Alexander and published in the mid‑1990s through a collaboration between the Tramway Historical Society and the Christchurch Transport Board. The series was originally planned as a history of the Christchurch Transport Board…but grew into a wider account of how people and goods moved around Canterbury from the 1850s to the late twentieth century. Each booklet focuses on a different mode or era, beginning with bullock wagons and horse‑drawn vehicles and moving through steam and horse trams, early electric tramways, regional rail, coastal shipping, and finally the development of buses up to 1989.
