Beautifully reproduced in color throughout the volume are costume design drawings (35 in all, including the rear cover), in this instance entirely the work of then-active members. One page is devoted to a brief biography of designer Bill Thomas, who passed away in 2000.

Compared with later editions, this volume is somewhat bare-bones. Each member's entry is limited to five credits (of the member's choosing); the middle third of the book is devoted to advertising; and the latter section is actually an appointment calendar for the year, the main attraction of which is a full-page reproduction of a lovely costume design (one for each month).

(The actual scope and date-range of this title index isn't clear, although one assumes it documents only the work of Guild members.) Beautifully reproduced in color throughout the volume are costume design drawings (46 in all, including the front and rear covers), a mixture of work by active contemporary designers and examples of more "classic" designs by deceased members such as Jean Louis, Edith Head, William Jobe Jr., Sheila O'Brien, Bernard Johnson, Mary Wills, Paul Zastupnevich, and Marjorie Best. (Most of these individuals had passed away in 1997, so their drawings -- reproduced on the section-dividers -- also function as a de facto "In Memoriam" section.).
